Thursday Programme

From Sept to May, we hold workshops on Thursday evenings from 7-9pm at the Bournemouth & Poole college in North road (In the Summer months, PEDAS paints outdoors on Thursdays)

Thursday evenings are open to non-members. For college sessions, donations of £3 are requested  from members and guests alike,  tea and coffee are included.

 

DAYS AND EVENINGS OUT PAINTING SUMMER 2010

 

Thursdays 3rd and 10th June 6-8.30pm will be at the Peacock Gallery in Upton Park, Poole. As these two days are during Dorset Art Weeks, the Gallery will be open but you are welcome to paint in the Park if you wish.

Thursday 3rd June is also the Official Open Evening of the Exhibition, when family, friends and guests are being invited.

 

 Thursday 17th June 10-4pm  Scoles Manor, Kingston   (By kind permission of Mr & Mrs Peter Bell)

Go through Corfe Castle Village on the A351 and take the turning on the Right at the end of the village to Kingston.

As you go up the Hill, there are 3 signs/symbols on a post – Steep Hill, Bend and Horses.

Immediately after the post, turn Left into a narrow lane. Go right to the end of the lane and you will find a 5-barred gate. Go through the gate and park at the end behind the Barns. Views of Corfe Castle as well as the property and Gardens.

Tea, Coffee and Toilets are available.             Cost: £2

  

Thursday 24th June 10-4pm  Knitson Old Farmhouse, Nr Swanage  (By kind permission of Mr & Mrs Mark Hefler)

Take the A351 through Corfe Village towards Swanage. After about 3 miles, having passed 2 garages, take the turning to the Left marked Knitson. Follow the road to the junction where you take the Right fork to Knitson. The farmhouse is on a bend on your left, turn up the lane and Park beyond the house.

Tea, Coffee and Toilets are available.       Cost: £3 (Cream Tea extra.)

 Thursday 1st July 10-8pm   Peveril Cottage, Peveril Point, Swanage   ( By kind permission of Antonia Phillips)

Directions: Through Town Centre – Station Road – Institute Road – then bear Left along bottom of High Street to the Stone Quay. Turn Right up Seymer Road and then Left into Broad Road Carpark. Park at the far end (expensive!) and walk past the Villas and Boat Park on your left.  Peveril Cottage is the last in a row of White Cottages on your left. Enter the back garden via the gate where you see the red Post Box and a path leading down behind the Life Boat Station. Views of Swanage and boats. This must be the 4th year of our visits to this site!

Tea, Coffee and Toilets available.                   Cost: £2 (For Cleaner)    Please bring a Contribution for Supper if you’re staying.

  

 Thursday 8th July 5.30 – 8-30pm  46 Roslin Road South, Talbot Woods, Bournemouth.   (By kind permission of Mrs Penny Slade)

Roslin Road South is off Glenferness Avenue near the Talbot Woods Roundabout. It is NOT the part of the road where The West Hants Club is but the other side of Glenferness Ave.

Park in the road. This is a new venue and I hope you like Penny’s garden, which is full of exciting, rare plants. There are grasses, a fishpond and mixed borders.

 *  Tuesday 13th July  7 – 9pm    Preparation for the Land Art Project on Brownsea Island.                                                  

A session with land ArtistOlivia Keith, who will lead this project. Details of where the meeting will take place will be in the July Newsletter.

* 22nd, 23rd and 24th July Thursday, Friday and Saturday -  Land Art On Brownsea Island

After last year’s successful venture, we have been asked by the National Trust to repeat the Project, with hopefully, more public participation. Olivia Keith will talk to us on the previous Tuesday evening and then work with us on the Island on the Thursday and Friday (22nd & 23rd)

 Thursday 29th July 6 -8.30pm Dean’s Court, Wimborne (By kind permission of Sir William & Lady Hanham)

Enter Wimborne on the Oakley Hill/Poole Road, crossing by Canford Bridge. At the roundabout, bear Left and then take the 1st turning Left along East Street. Look for  HOLMANS on your left and drive over the pavement along Dean’s Court Lane.

With 13 acres of gardens and a kitchen garden within 18th century serpentine walls there is much to paint!               Cost: £3

 

 Thursday 5th August  10 – 4pm   Compton Acres Gardens,  164 Canford Cliffs  Road, Poole

Come and Paint in these beautiful Gardens. A great variety of places to paint but please be mindful of the Public wandering around and do not obstruct paths etc.Toilets and Cafés available.             Entry: £6.95 (Cons. £6.45)

Unfortunately I have been unable to negotiate a reduction for Groups, but many of you have a Season Ticket, and those who have a Family Ticket might be able to get others in with theirs

 

 Thursday 12th August  10-4pm    Hengistbury Head,  Broadway off Belle Vue Road, Southbourne.

Park in the Carpark and catch the Little Train or walk to the Beach Huts at the end and you will find where we are painting. Views of Christchurch Harbour, the Priory and  vistas.

Cost: Carpark Fee & Train

 

 Thursday 19th August  10-4pm    Burngate Stone Carving Centre,  Kingston Road, Langton Matravers, Nr Swanage

No we’re not Stone Carving but using the Venue as a base for Painting! In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site Of Special Scientific Interest, it boasts views over Swanage Bay & I.O.W., Nine Barrow & Ballard Down, as well as fields, old quarry workings and cliffs above the English Channel.  

Tea, Coffee and Toilets.   Cost: £3

 

Thursday 26th August 6-8.30pm       Canford Heath, Pilsdon Drive,   Off Culliford  Crescent, Canford Park.

Go to the end of Pilsdon Drive and park. You will se an opening onto the Heath.  We will be somewhere around there, so come and find us.

Thursday 2nd September  9am – 10.30pm    Branksome Dene Chine Community Room.

Branksome Dene Chine is off Pinewood Road which is off Westminster Road and the Avenue, Poole.

We are there form 9am until 10.30pm as, after a day’s painting, there will be Music and a Barbecue to end our Summer Programme. Come and join us any time during the day to paint or just enjoy the BBQ!
