Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th September 2016

We are delighted to tell you that we have now made arrangements with Angela Holidays for our 4 day coach tour to the north west, staying in Liverpool and visiting Yorkshire Sculpture Park on the way home.

We will, as usual, be departing on the Thursday morning but since we are staying in UK, we will be returning Sunday evening.

The dates are 15th–18th September, 2016.
On the way up we will be calling in at the New Art Gallery, Walsall. They have a large collection on a broad spectrum, including an archive of Jacob Epstein and his family, and they stage exhibitions of contemporary art.

We arrive in Liverpool around 6:00pm, where we will be staying at the Mercure Atlantic Tower Hotel . We have 3 nights/2 full days in this hotel, situated within half a kilometre of the town centre and Albert Dock.

Our visit coincides with the Liverpool Biennial 2016 exhibition of newly commissioned contemporary art from around the world. For those of less adventurous tastes, Liverpool's Walker Gallery contains one of Europe's finest collections of paintings, from Tudor to the twenty-first century. It will also be hosting the 2016 John Moores Painting Prize, a major UK-wide event since 1957.

Most recent addition to Liverpool's artistic offering is the Tate Liverpool on the excellently refurbished Albert Dock, right next to the Liver Building and "The Three Graces".

There is a Museum of Slavery, one about Liverpool and another about Maritime history.

On Friday and/or Saturday there will be optional coach trips to the Lady Lever Gallery in Port Sunlight (see liverpoolmuseums) and "Another Place", Antony Gormley's 100 iron men on the beach at Crosby.

On the Sunday we leave Liverpool early and drive to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where we will have about 4 hours to see over 100 sculptures in a magnificent landscape setting. There are also interior exhibition areas and lots of eating opportunities.

We return to Poole by around 21:00 on Sunday.

Accommodation is on the basis of bed and breakfast. The hotel does have its own restaurant. Prices will depend on the number of people in the group but range from £259 for 30 to £220 for 50. Single room supplement is £25 per person per night.

We have an option on the hotel rooms until the end of February. We will therefore be taking bookings from PEDAS members (plus travelling companion/partner) until Monday 1 February, at which point it will be opened to other groups. If you want to join this trip, please fill in the booking form and return as soon as possible.

Booking Form
I attach all the details and booking form for the Liverpool Holiday. The closing date for you to get back to me was 1 February, however I am able to extend this until Sunday 7th February at the AGM. I will bring some spare forms along with me to enable you to complete your details and give me your deposit cheque for £50.00. This will be your last opportunity to book, we have 20 people booked already but ideally would like at least another 10 before we open it up to other clubs and societies. We need to have our final numbers to give to Angela Holidays by the end of February.
