'ART OF POETRY' is showing now at the Gallery Upstairs, open daily until 3 April Escape into Poetry and Painting at the Gallery Upstairs - in a truly engrossing exhibition of artworks created in response to poetry written by Members of Poole Poetry Collective With ceramics by Joanna Wakefield. POOLE POETRY COLLECTIVE is a Dorset based grass-roots poetry group (Established 2009), a community of writers and readers of poetry. They meet together regularly to discuss established poets, poetry forms, new poetry and to support each other in creating, publishing and performing their own work. After successfully responding to an invitation to collaborate with photographers and write poetry in response to work in the photography exhibition Neat Image in 2022, members had the idea to reverse the process and invite artists to make work in response to fifty original poems created by the group. They are also fortunate to have a ceramic artist amongst their members and are pleased to include her work in the show. Exhibition finishes 3rd April.
