EQUILIBRIUM at the GALLERY UPSTAIRS An exciting exhibition currently showing at Gallery Upstairs, with lots of original and interesting work, most for sale. Enter the gallery and scan the room. It doesn’t matter how cleverly and convincingly a painting has been rendered - the composition must feel ‘right’. 'Equilibrium' celebrates the importance of composition. Members of Poole & East Dorset Art Society (PEDAS) have created artworks for ‘Equilibrium’ a project set by the group’s new Artist Patron, Helen Talbot. Helen says: “Composition refers to the arrangement of shapes, colours, and tones within a specified area to create balance within the design. In a painting or drawing the ability to recognize a good composition is often an instinctive reaction to whether it looks right or wrong. Members have been encouraged to use the ‘rule of thirds’”. Helen herself has a number of paintings and travel sketchbooks. Well worth a browse.
Come along and see what you think. This is the last weekend. 'Equilibrium' finishes 4 pm on Monday. Find Equilibrium above the tearooms at Upton Country Park.
